Happy Birthday!!!!

Rosie started to get ready for her party very early by trying on her new hat. I think she is far more impressed it looks. With the hat and a special doggy peanut butter/carrot cake she was eager to begin the festivities...I mean eating.

With the candle blown out it was time to chow...

What a mess...but delicious. I must admit I tried it and it tasted like peanut butter cardboard. Maybe it would have been tastier if it had some sugar in it...but Rosie LOVED it!

And finally a short video. (FYI Tilt your head 90 degrees to the right to watch...hee hee)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSIE!!!!

Beautiful Day

It was an absolutely perfect day for the beach. Rosie and Lucy had a blast. She swam a lot and got a "little" dirty in the sand. Great fun!

She claims it was "accidental".

First Trip to the Beach

Lucy invited Rosie for her first trip to the beach. It was a resounding success and Rosie is eager to go back for more. It was absolutely beautiful there with lots of waves for the dogs to play in.
Believe it or not, we did bring more than one bumper. But why have your own if you can share... More sharing of the bumper.
Rosie was here...
Running and playing...
One final Rosie picture.

NOT Dishwasher Safe

So...um...when you see this:

on something, I recommend that you don't ignore it! Sadly we didn't see it until it was too late. This is the unfortunate result:

So much for Rosie's portable food/water/bowl kit.

Wrestlemania...

With Heather and Andrew away in Europe we are babysitting Lucy. Lucy has always look down upon Rosie as an immature and obnoxious blight on her life...but all that has changed. With a little time and perseverance Rosie has won her over. We now have daily WWF Wrestlemania sessions. Here is a little video sample of the chaos...

Even Lucy loves Rosie now.

Swimming!!!!!

Big news in the Nuttall-Shurtleff household...Rosie is finally swimming. Everyone who knows Rosie, knows that this skill has been alluding her up until now. She prefered to walk underwater and come up sputtering...until now. Here are some pictures from our walk this morning...

Here is Rosie looking at a tree. I wonder what she sees...

A raccoon!
And now for the proof...

Here is a short video of her swimming.

I am very happy that she has mastered swimming but I must admit that the wet and odourous dog that is cuddling with me right now is slightly unpleasent.

Some Goings On...

It's been a while since I have put up some pictures so I figured it was about time. Rosie just passed her 9 month birthday and she is as amazing as always. We are babysitting Lucy for a few days so here is a picture of a dog pile. The couch can't hold too much more... The dog pile again...
A perfect sleeping puppy. There is still nothing better than the sound of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's.

And me and my new shoes. They are going to make me soooooo much faster. I think I have to add some pink and purple flowers to my bike to make the look complete.

And finally a short video I took on a nice snowy walk a few weeks ago.

Trouble...

Day 4 - Post Spay

What can I say. For a puppy used to living her life tired, Rosie is really struggling...maybe I should say we are really struggling with an under-exercised dog. Her surgery went as planned and she is on the mend but that does not mean she is not driving us CRAZY! Here is a collection of the trouble she is getting into. This is what happens when you try to get a nice picture of the dog...hello!

That would be my shoe...

And my hat...

I didn't take a picture of the underwear she brought me. Hopefully we will survive the final 3 days or so of restricted exercise!

Rosie the Camel

Rosie the camel has not humps...Rosie is a ... goat?
Here are some pictures of Rosie from the last few weeks. She had an eventful first Christmas with a trip to the emergency room in Kingston because she ate something uneatable. Why? Who knows...she's a goat. She also enjoys climbing on anything...another goat characteristic. So lets review...she was a sausage, a potato with legs, a baby hippo, a fruit bat and now a goat. I'm still waiting for the lab that we thought we had purchased.
Anyways, on to the cute stuff. Here she is in her chair. It is on a swivel and because she jumps into it with so much enthusiasm she spends half her life looking at the wall. This is still her favourite sleep spot. Here she is cuddling with yellow bunny (I know, original name).
Too cute!

Finally, she has taken to hanging out with farm animals. This is her new rubber chicken that our neighbour gave her. I think she hates us!

Make sure to turn on the sound or you can not appreciate the wonderful chicken noises.

Maturing Roses

Rosie seems to be maturing now that she has hit 6 months. She still requires hours of hiking to empty the gas tank completely but overall she is more content to hold down her end of the couch. I caught a cute video of her chewing her chew bone. This is how a "mature" (ie lazy) dog takes care of chewing.

The other thing I noticed is how bare her belly is. How is this dog going to survive a Canadian winter?!? Brrrrrrrr.

'Tis the Season...

On Monday we put up our Christmas tree. We went the safe route and instead of getting a giant tree for the family room we were sensible and got a little baby tree for the living room. That way we can block off the room in someone...not naming any names...finds the tree too much to handle. So far so good and that unnamed someone has been leaving it alone. As per tradition, when you decorate the tree...you decorate the dog too.
Thank goodness she is tolerant.

And the tree...not as cute but still nice.

Then, Now and a Really Fat Squirrel...

Then...
With Rosie turning 6 months in a few days it was nice to get some pictures from her first day with us. Andrew and Heather were holding on to these treasures but here they finally are. No wonder she weaseled her way into our hearts...she was so darned cute!

Now...
Mike was busy at the track this weekend and someone took some good pictures. He ended up second after losing in the finals to the current junior national champion who had just returned from a national training camp. He also (surprisingly) made it to the endurance final but had to ride up to the rail immediately after his final sprint so dropped out early. Impressive that he made it though.
This is the quarter finals...easy win.

Another win in the semi-final. This guy qualified second.

Racing his good friend Lorne in the first round.

And just cruising around between races.

Here is a picture of Rosie looking out the window this morning. A little bigger than when we got her.
The Fat Squirrel...
Finally, the obesity epidemic has affected our squirrel population. This guy has so many chins he has trouble turning his head.
